So far this year, 33 613 131 passengers have travelled to or from an Avinor airport. This
is a 3.5 per cent increase, compared to last year.
Oslo Airport up 5.3 per cent
A total of 2 227 292 passengers travelled to or from Norway's largest airport in August; an increase of 5.3 per cent. International traffic increased by 6 per cent.
"We have experienced a new month with robust traffic growth, despite the large-scale airport expansion. We are very satisfied with this," says Oslo Airport media manager Joachim Westher Andersen, and continues:
"Norwegians still have considerable wanderlust, which is borne out by the figures, and we are excited to follow this continuing development."
There were only minor changes at the other major airports. Among regional airports, Bardufoss saw the greatest increase in passengers; a rise of 8.8 per cent.
"This increase is linked to the Norwegian Armed Forces' activity in the area," says airport manager Jørn Limo.
Norwegian airspace more popular
The number of flights through Norwegian airspace is also rapidly increasing. So far this year, the number of flights through Norwegian airspace has increased by as much as 12 per cent.
"Our prices are competitive and we give good service, which has led to the rising popularity of Norwegian airspace," says managing director Anders Kirsebom in Avinor Flysikring AS.
