Just over a week ago, CNN's Richard Quest visited Oslo Aiport with his "Business Traveller" show. Quest was on a mission to learn how OSL handles Norway`s demanding winter weather. During the course of a very hectic weekend, he got to try his hand at operating the world's largest snowblower and de-icing an airplane. He also found time to visit the control tower and land a plane in a simulator.

Winter returned in full force this week. Oslo Airport is prepared – with 130 employees distributed among 5 on-call teams – ready to clear away the snow. "We have plenty of staffing in place from 15 October and until the Easter traffic has died down," says head of section Thomas Toftevåg.

For the 33rd month in a row, Oslo Airport has seen its passenger numbers rise compared with the previous year. In January 2013, 1,523,297 passengers travelled through Oslo Airport, a year-on-year increase of 1.3%. The number of international passengers rose 3.3%, while domestic traffic decreased by 0.7%.
