|As more and more people move to expanding cities, farming will be pushed further away from population centers. The result of this is longer transportation routes, less fresh products, increased reliance on petroleum-based fertilizers and more high-intensity monoculture farming. In response to this challenge, Plantagon has developed a vertical space-efficient greenhouse for the urban environment.|

The Future of Food, in Our Global Kitchen. The American Museum of Natural History in New York is today opening a new exhibition where Plantagon is taking a part. The exhibition, Our Global Kitchen will be traveling around the world for around seven years. The City of Stuttgart has signed Opening Rights with Plantagon for developing a Plantagon Greenhouse in the city, for vertical farming in urban areas. The document was signed by Dr. Wolfgang Schuster, Lord Mayor of Stuttgart, and Plantagon CEO Hans Hassle, during the Economist Conference "Future Cities - Creating tomorrow’s urban world" in Stockholm, October 18th 2011 - October 19th 2011.
