A Look At The Main Specifications Of The Awesome New LG Optimus 4X HD

Press release   •   Mar 15, 2012 15:12 GMT

LG was the first smartphone manufacturer to release a smartphone with a dual-core processor, the LG Optimus 2X. Recently, it was also one of the first to release a phone with a quad-core processor, called the LG Optimus 4X HD. In this article I will look at their latest flagship smartphone and some of its key features so you can decide if it is the right smartphone for you.

At 4.7 inches, the screen of this device is one of its most noticeable attributes. Within the dimensions of the screen, a whopping pixel resolution of 720x 1280 is present, allowing high definition display of multimedia content like games, photos and videos, hence the name of the device. The screen utilises HD-IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen technology, ensuring that the on screen content has wide viewing angles and consistent brightness, even when outside.

As mentioned, the LG Optimus 4X HD was one of the first quad-core smartphones, announced alongside the likes of the HTC One X and Huawei Ascend D Quad, at the rennet MWC event in Barcelona. It is likely that this feature will replace the dual-core processors seen on many manufacturers’ flagship smartphones over than last year or so, resulting in improved performance from all manner of the handsets features. At 1.5GHz, the quad-core processor is will mean that demanding apps will load and operate smoothly, the touchscreen will be very responsive, multi tasking will be more seamless than ever before, and web pages will load almost instantly over 3G or Wi-Fi. There are many more advantages to this increase in processing power, which I will cover in another article.

The LG Optimus 4X HD comes with a generous 16 GB of internal storage as standard, meaning that you can potentially store thousands of music tracks, apps, photos etc. There is also a microSD slot included in the handset, meaning you can install a memory card of up to 32 GB, increasing overall storage to a whopping 48GB, so you can even store a number of full length HD movies of the phone.

An 8 megapixel camera is also included, which offers the ability to capture both high quality still images and high definition video footage. The latter is in settings op up to 1080p; the highest video resolution available on any mobile device. The camera comes with all the usual image enhancing features like autofocus, face & smile detection, touch focus, image stabilisation and LED flash to ensure great results are easily achieved.

The LG Optimus 4X HD nicely fills the shoes of its predecessor, the LG Optimus 2X. It brings the brand’s offerings bang up to date with some of the latest hardware, and indeed software available for smartphones (shipping with the new v4.0 of Android). Until we hear confirmation of the iPhone5 and Samsung Galaxy S3 specifications, the LG Optimus 4X HD sits firmly at the top of the smartphone market, with specifications matched by only a small number of handsets.
