Alan Kercinik joins Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide’s Strategy+Planning Group

NEW YORK — Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide (Ogilvy PR), an integrated global communications firm, today named Alan Kercinik as Executive Vice President in its Strategy+Planning (S+P) group, a cross-disciplinary team of the agency’s most senior practitioners that span the global network and consult with clients to elevate strategic excellence, creativity and campaign effectiveness.

“Ogilvy PR’s Strategy+ Planning team is a model for the future of our industry, which is going to be driven by convergence and divergence,” said Kercinik. “Communications and marketing channels continue to converge, which means agencies need to tap diverse expertise and experience to build engaging, creative campaigns. I was attracted to the model and the team’s ability to provide clients with high-level strategic thinking, creative excellence and integrated programs.”

Kercinik joins Ogilvy PR from Weber Shandwick, where he served as Executive Vice President and Director of Engagement, North America. In this position, he helped drive the firm’s creative direction and developed communication strategies and programs across a range of geographies and industries. Kercinik also oversaw the agency’s engagement with Mars Chocolate North America as the account’s Client Relationship Leader. He led the development and execution of multiple programs – including last year’s launch of M&M’S Pretzel – as well as helped build social/digital strategies across the company’s portfolio of brands.

Kercinik brings nearly 20 years experience to his new role with expertise in creative program development, client and account management and business development. He will advise Ogilvy PR clients on brand strategy, creating integrated marketing platforms, launching new products, rejuvenating existing brands and leveraging established equities in new ways. Kercinik will be based in Chicago and report to Dr. Jennifer Scott, S+P Global Managing Director.

Previously, Kercinik held senior level positions with PR 21 (now Zeno Group) and Frankel (now Arc Worldwide). His has helped build a number of iconic brands, including M&M’S, Oreo, Oscar Mayer, ACE Hardware, Target, Sharpie, KFC, Budweiser and Degree deodorant.

Kercinik has an active online presence, blogging about fatherhood at www.alwaysjacked.com and manhood at www.thirtymag.com. He received a BA in Advertising from University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. Kercinik just became a father for the second time and lives with his wife and two sons in Barrington, Illinois.
