Appeal for information following New Milton attempted robbery

We would like to hear from anyone with information after a man was punched during an attempted robbery in New Milton.

It took place as the 23-year-old victim was walking in Fernhill Lane, near Ballard Lake, at around 1.45am on Saturday 6 April.

An unknown man came out of the treeline and approached the victim. He asked him to hand over his wallet and phone.

When the victim refused, he was punched in the face. The man then ran off back towards the trees.

The victim sustained a bloodied nose. Nothing was stolen.

The man is described as:

  • white
  • around 5ft 9ins tall
  • aged in his late 20s
  • having ginger/copper-coloured stubble
  • wearing a black Puffa jacket with a fur-lined hood, and blue trainers with a New Balance logo

A 20-year-old man from New Milton has been arrested on suspicion of robbery. He has been released from custody but remains under investigation.
