Appeal made following robbery at Basingstoke shop

We are investigating a robbery in which a man threatened a member of staff at a Basingstoke shop.

It took place sometime around 7.40pm on Sunday 21 April at the McColl's store in Buckland Parade.

A man entered the shop and threatened a staff member from behind.

No weapon was seen but the staff member felt a sharp point at his back.

He was forced to open a till. The man then took £230 from the till and left the shop.

The man is described as:

  • white
  • 40 to 50 years of age
  • around 6ft tall
  • of slim build
  • short, brown hair
  • having a bandage on his right hand
  • wearing a grey hooded top, grey jeans and black flip flops
  • carrying a brown satchel over his shoulder

Detective Constable Chris Phillips said: “We are keen to hear from anyone who thinks they have information on what happened.

“Were you in the area at the time? Do you remember seeing something suspicious?

“Perhaps you saw a man wearing flip flops, with a bandage on his right hand, in this area? If so, please call us.”
