Apple iPhone 5 Looks Set to Come with a Larger Screen

Press release   •   Jun 02, 2011 08:07 BST

The iPhone 5 is the much anticipated phone from Apple given that it is the time of the year when the company usually spurs up the iPhone brand. It is a time of the year when the Apple iPhone 3GS, the iPhone 4 and many other improvements on the iPhone were launched. So, it is much anticipated that the iPhone 5 will be launched pretty soon after Samsung announced their new phone that came with the dual core processors. It is the next stage in the evolution of the mobile phones, which is clearly not present in the current version of the iPhone. It is going to be introduced in the form of the iPhone 5.

The iPhone 5 is also expected to be the phone that will make the transition towards a larger screen size, which has been demanded of the iPhone series for a long time. Despite many other manufacturers going for the 4 inch or even the 4.3 inch display size, Apple has restricted the iPhone to only 3.5 inches in terms of screen size. The disadvantage was not felt a few years ago, but it is now clearly being felt with a number of new phones arriving with much larger displays than the iPhone. So, the iPhone 5 will be improving on the display size, but as with any other Apple product, there is not going to be a simple solution for increasing the screen size. Increasing the screen size would mean that the dimensions of the phone also needs to be increased.

However, Apple seems to have found a way around this problem by using the edge to edge technology, which makes maximum utilisation of the edges of the phone, which have remained only for the ornamental purposes up until now. The usage of this technology has meant that the iPhone 5 is expected to increase the size of the screen without actually increasing the phone size. In fact, this version of the iPhone is expected to be much thinner than the current version in order to compete with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S II, which comes with a total thickness of just 8.5 mm. In the face of such competition, the iPhone 5 will be in an extremely disadvantageous position if it came with a thick body. So, Apple is working hard to make the iPhone 5 compete with the Samsung phones in this regard.

They are also putting a lot of effort into making the camera department of the new phone shine much better than the competition and they have already signed up Sony to make the eight megapixel camera. Even though the features of this camera are yet to be released, one can assume that it will be having the best of features like Xenon flash and the full HD video recording. The availability of the iPhone 5 is the biggest question more than any other feature, but there are rumours that suggest that this phone could be launched in September.
