It’s no longer a rumor as Sharp confirms the Shipping date for the iPhone 5 screens. According to Sharp’s new President Takashi Okuda “Shipments (of iPhone 5 screens) to Apple will start in August”. This is via a press briefing held in Tokyo Japan last Thursday. This statement came out as Sharp released its latest quarterly earnings results.
Now, the said statement lends credence to reports that September 12 announcement and September 21 launch of the new iPhone. Added to the new iPhone launch is a smaller screened iPad or the iPad mini. There is also a rumor about the new iPod touch which will debut along with the new iPod Nano.
The iPhone 5 is expected to come with a bigger screen size. In addition, the new iPhone will carry a 4” screen with a different aspect ratio. Apple will also use a new technology called in-cell touch panels. This will allow Apple to make their screens thinner.
