AXA PPP Health Tech & You has partnered with The Age of No Retirement, a movement for intergenerational social change, to support one of its six Award categories; The Health Tech & Age Award.
This partnership will be announced at a unique four-day festival taking place at the OXO Bargehouse on London’s South Bank from 28th September to 1st October. The ‘Age Does Not Matter’ festival will set out to disrupt the narratives and challenge stereotyping around ageing by getting business leaders, creative thinkers, policymakers, innovators, academics and members of the public together. It will also provide the forum to launch a ground-breaking piece of research demonstrating that today’s common assumptions around age the generation gaps are often misplaced.
The festival will combine keynote speakers in the world of health, technology, design and fashion with a series of co-design labs for participation by innovators, designers and pioneers exploring ageing issues in different key areas of life including Health & Wellbeing and Work & Employment. The Care & Caring co-design lab will be led by AXA PPP healthcare looking for innovations to help carers, and particularly sandwich carers who have dual care responsibilities as they juggle care for older relatives and young children.
The AXA PPP Health Tech & You programme, now in its third year, continues to discover, promote and support health tech disruptors, developers and innovators who are shaping the way in which people use cutting-edgetechnology to manage their health and wellbeing.
Central to AXA PPP Health Tech & You will be the return of its annual awards programme which identifies developers, designers and businesses that are helping people either in a clinical setting, in the workplace, or at home. The Health Tech & Age Award category aims to identify excellence in design innovation and technical adaption of health tech that can support independent living as we get older.
Richard Cooper, Head of Digital Marketing, AXA PPP healthcare says; “We are excited to be partnering with the Age of No Retirement as part of the awards to help shape The Health Tech & Age category. Their design-led approach to help challenge perceptions of age and to build products and services to help older generations live more independently mirrors our aim at AXA PPP healthcare to help people with every aspect of their health and wellbeing throughout their life.”
Jonathan Collie, co-founder of The Age of No Retirement commented; "As we all live longer, healthier lives and there is great potential in products and services that work for everyone, whatever their age. We are delighted to have the AXA PPP Health Tech & You programme on board as a partner, to help us find solutions that open up a new era of intergenerational innovation."
The AXA PPP Health Tech & You programme, with its programme partners the Design Museum and think tank, 2020health, is continuing to discover, promote and support the inventors and innovations in the exciting field of health tech. About The Age of No Retirement
The Age of No Retirement is a movement for intergenerational social change where people and future-thinking organisations come together to explore, learn and design a future that serves citizens, workers and consumers of all ages. It is supported by The Big Lottery Fund and Barclays, using a design-led approach to effect change, challenge perceptions and help build products and services that work for everyone, regardless of their age.
Over the last 6 months, The Age of No Retirement has worked in close partnership with global insights and analytics specialists Tapestry Research, and global insight and strategy consultancy Flamingo on a ground- breaking study. Designed to explore the changing attitudes to ‘age’ in our society and the opportunity that an intergenerational approach to the design of products and services can offer, the study clearly demonstrates that common assumptions about age are simply misplaced, and that different generations have more in common than we may think.
