Press Release   •   Oct 09, 2012 19:17 BST

Stockholm, Sweden, October 9, 2012 – The radical new design and technology of the Blueair Sense air cleaner has been nominated as one of 35 finalists for the 2012 Swedish Design Award “De- sign S” out of a total 220 contenders. The Blueair Sense, which is currently being launched in China, Taiwan and the United States, was designed by the globally acclaimed Stockholm-based Claesson Koivisto Rune architecture and design studio.

“Design S”, Sweden’s national design award, singles out creative and innovative solutions in every imaginable area of products, services and environments, regardless of the design field. “Design S” rewards best examples of Swedish design and embraces both the designers and companies. Each individual entry is assessed based on the problems faced by companies and organizations, the end solution and how design expertise contributed to the result.

Joakim Nygren, chief designer at Blueair, said: “We are totally thrilled to have received yet one more confirmation of our new approach to raising the design bar for indoor air cleaners. From the outset, we always aimed to give the Blueair Sense a strikingly new approach to indoor air purifier design and it is heartening to see it being recognized.”

A world-first feature of the Blueair Sense is its unique interactive motion-sensitive tempered glass top, which delivers increased simplicity and ease of use. The futuristic top replaces the physical use of a knob, allowing users to change air-cleaning speed with simple, gentle hand movements just above the scratchproof surface, providing a richer customer experience.

The Blueair Sense is available in an enticing palette of six colors ranging from Polar White and Graph- ite Black to Powder Pink in a celebration of Blueair’s desire to embrace a human touch and the user’s interaction with the finished product.

Joakim Nygren says the ‘blockbusting, cool design of the Blueair Sense makes the unit as natural a part of the modern home or small office as a fridge or vacuum cleaner’.
