Anyone who knows the frustration and inconvenience caused by waiting for tradesmen to turn up can now turn to DAD for instant practical advice via video call.
DAD is a new app that puts people in touch with home repair experts – eliminating the need for expensive and annoying callouts, while also empowering callers to fix problems themselves with DAD as their guide.
DAD Experts are carefully selected to have great customer service skills as well as a broad knowledge of common DIY and home repair issues – from bleeding radiators to tiling walls.
The idea came to founder Ben Wynn when he had a problem with a leaking tap.
“I’ve always called my Dad for tips and advice as he’s simply the most practical and handy person I know, there’s nothing he can’t fix,” says Ben. “This call was urgent as water was going everywhere and doing it via video made it easy for my Dad to see what the problem was and tell me exactly how to fix it. I realised right then that if I found it useful to be able to speak with an expert in seconds, others would too. The idea for DAD was born.”
Thousands of people across the UK are already using the free app to solve their DIY dilemmas, brush up on their knowledge and even arrange for a vetted tradesman to do the work. DAD recently secured £2 million in seed funding from home repairs company HomeServe.
“At DAD, we believe that knowledge is the ultimate power tool,” says Ben Wynn. “Calling DAD saves both time and money, whether people decide to do the job themselves or have someone do it for them.”
“Waiting in all day for a tradesmen that may not even show up is a thing of the past with DAD, where you get instant access to impartial, expert advice when it suits you. That also means you can tackle more DIY tasks, safe in the knowledge DAD is there to guide you every step of the way.”
The app can be downloaded for free and calls to DAD experts are charged at a flat rate of £10 with no cap placed on call duration.
