Press release   •   Mar 08, 2012 15:18 GMT

The ideal Home Show, which runs from the 16th March – 1st April 2012 at London’s Earls Court, will welcome over 270,000 home lovers across the 17 day show. Visitors will all be able to download the free App to their smartphone or tablet device, to enjoy the smoothest and most interactive show experience to date.

The App has been developed by Black Pepper Software, and is powered by the comprehensive and advanced Companion event platform (; designed for use at exhibitions, conferences, shopping centres and attractions.

The app uses GPS, mobile phone, and WiFi positioning to provide proximity services and navigation dependent on the user’s location.  As a result, it delivers a range of useful, ‘real time’ information, venue specific navigation and mapping, interaction via embedded social media and real-time analytics to improve both the visitor experience and the business management of venues.

Adam Wright, Companion CEO, said: “Companion works to bridge the gap between the physical world and the ever expanding digital landscape. It provides a digital platform to communicate and interact with people in a complex venue while also delivering deep insight into how the physical space is being used. We are delighted to work with Media 10 in the development of this comprehensive show application.

Robert Nathan, Groups Marketing Manager of the show organiser, Media 10, commented: “We have designed this App to make our visitors’ experience as simple and smooth as possible.  Many of our visitors now carry smartphones so it makes sense to interact with them and provide show information directly into their hands. We want to make the experience even more interesting for visitors and more interactive for exhibitors”.

The ideal Home Show will be the first consumer show to provide location based information and show offers on a smartphone using this new App technology. Companion has had previous success at the BBC Good Food Show; the Motorhome and Caravan Show; the Classic Car Show and BBC Gardeners World.
