An update to the Furniture and Furnishings Regulations (FFRs) has now come into force, which will provide an amendment to the test fabric material used in fire-resistance tests for upholstered furniture and furnishings.
The revised FFRs include an amendment to the specification of the test cover fabric used in testing houses to allow a more widely commercial and accepted fabric to be used.
This will enable Trading Standards to be better placed to effectively enforce the test fabric material under the new FFRs.
Consumer Minister Edward Davey said:
“These changes will help more effective enforcement by Trading Standards so that consumers will be better protected from potentially unsafe furniture.”
