A digital marketing firm, which was shortlisted in a CSR award alongside Aston Villa Football Club this year, has donated more work to charity. Eccleshall based ExtraMile Communications has donated a new website to the Donna Louise Children’s Hospice, as well as providing the charity’s staff with training sessions and a manual on how to make the most of its new website. The agency will continue to work closely with the Donna Louise Trust, providing web design assistance, e-mail marketing and consultancy services.
The charitable trust hopes the brand new website will increase web traffic and simplify the way visitors identify and access the information they are looking for. The website integrates social media, allowing visitors to follow the charity on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. The responsive design feature means the website can be viewed on any device, from desktop PCs to laptops, tablets and smart phones.
For almost five years, ExtraMile Communications has been providing free of charge e-mail marketing to the Donna Louise Children’s Hospice. The longstanding relationship between the two organisations was strengthened even further in September 2012 when ExtraMile Communications’ managing director, Gabrielle Hadley, climbed Mount Kilimanjaro and raised the equivalent of the mountain’s height in feet - an incredible £19,341.
“A website is often the first aspect of an organisation people come into contact with,” explained Gabrielle Hadley, managing director of ExtraMile Communications. “When it comes to charities in particular, a website can literally make or break first impressions.
“ExtraMile Communications believes there are three top tips for designing a successful website for charity: making sure it is easy to update and manage, ensuring it appeals to target audiences and finally, guaranteeing it looks trustworthy, reflecting the character of the organisation.”
The Donna Louise Children’s Hospice Trust provides specialist care and support services for children with a shortened life expectancy and their families. The charity has a purpose-built house called ‘Treetops’ in Stoke-on-Trent, where it supports a wide range of clients from Staffordshire and South Cheshire.
ExtraMile’s strong corporate social responsibility policy has seen the agency work with other charities, such as Caudwell Children, Alice Charity and the Friends of Kampala Music School.
