DONG Energy’s Trym field in production

DONG Energy’s Norwegian oil and gas field Trym is now in production. This is the first Norwegian field to be produced via Danish infrastructure. The Trym development is the result of close cooperation between the license partners, DONG Energy and Bayerngas, the Danish and Norwegian authorities as well as Mærsk Oil & Gas as operator of the Danish Harald platform.

Trym is DONG Energy’s first production in Norway as operator, and DONG Energy is operator with 50% ownership. DONG Energy is partner in several producing Norwegian licenses including the giant gas field Ormen Lange.

“We have for several years been involved in exploration and production licences in Norway. We are now proud also to be active as production operator", says Anders Mørland, responsible for DONG Energy's Norwegian oil and gas activities.

Also Bayerngas is very satisfied with the new producing field.

“DONG Energy has accomplished the field development within budget and according to plan and has proven to be a competent and professional operator. With a 50% participating share in the field Trym is important to Bayerngas. We have worked closely with the operator during planning and development of the field and appreciate the attention the operator has given our inputs. We foresee a continued close cooperation with the operator as the field now starts producing”, says Arne Westeng, Managing Director, Bayerngas Norge.

It is the first of two wells in the Trym license which is now producing. The second production well will be drilled during the next few months. DONG Energy and Bayerngas together invest DKK 2.4 billion (in 2008 figures) in Trym with estimated commercial reserves of 4.4 billion Sm3 of gas and 1.1 million Sm3 of condensate. Peak production rates are app. 1.8 million Sm3 gas pr. day and app.1.000 Sm3 condensate pr. day.

Facts on Trym

Trym is located just north of the Danish/Norwegian border. The subsea installation has two horizontal wells tied back to and controlled from the Mærsk operated Harald platform. The gas from Trym will be transported from Harald via DONG Energy's pipeline to the Tyra platform and onwards to Nybro in Denmark or Den Helder in the Netherlands, respectively. Oil and condensate will be transported from Harald via the Gorm field to Fredericia in Denmark via DONG Energy's pipeline.
