DREAMWORKS SET NEW NOODLE WORLD RECORD IN CHINATOWN

Press Release   •   Nov 14, 2011 18:59 GMT

14th November 2011: There were oodles of noodles in Chinatown as DreamWorks Animation SKG set a new Guinness World Record for the longest line of bowls of noodles to celebrate the launch of KUNG FU PANDA 2 on DVD and Blu-ray. The line, made up of 1,288 bowls of cooked noodles, stretched down Gerrard Street, in the heart of Chinatown.

Staff from Leong’s Legends restaurant offered their services by cooking the noodles and helping place the bowls on the road in a task which took two hours to complete. The lead character in the movie, Po, famed for his love of noodles, placed the last bowl on the line and accepted the Guinness World Record certificate from the official adjudicator.

Paramount Home Entertainment marketing director, Lesley Henry,  said: “Kung Fu Panda 2 is the best animated movie of the year and what better way to celebrate the launch of the DVD & Blu-ray than breaking a World Record! Fans of the movie will know that Po’s dad, Mr.Ping, runs a noodle restaurant so attempting to beat the world record for the longest line of bowls of noodles was a challenge we simply couldn’t resist.”

The #1 animated movie of the year, KUNG FU PANDA 2, DreamWorks Animation SKG, Inc.’s spectacular follow up to the Academy Award®-nominated original, earned more than $650 million at the global box office, delighting viewers of all ages with its engaging story. Boasting an all-star cast of voice talent including Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, Dustin Hoffman, Gary Oldman, Jackie Chan, Seth Rogen, Lucy Liu, David Cross, Michelle Yeoh, Danny McBride and Jean-Claude Van Damme.

Kung Fu Panda 2 is out today on DVD and Blu-ray Triple Play.
