End of Life Care - Holme House Nursing Home

Press Release   •   Jul 30, 2012 16:45 BST

Part of the Croft Care Home Group, Holme House Nursing Home has provided nursing, residential and community based care since 1991. Assisting hundreds of residents each year, the company are committed to ensuring their employees are trained to the highest level.

With over 40 staff working at Holme House, the management team identified the need for its employees to further improve their skills in the subject of End of Life Care.

Having previously experienced staff training from The Skills Network, the company signed 30 of its workforce onto the NCFE Level 3 Certificate in the Principles of End of Life Care, (fundable under the Single Adult Skills Budget until end of July 2013).

Linda Mumford, End of Life Care Manager at Holme House, said: “We are fully committed to giving our staff the opportunity to develop their skills. The Skills Network has a great reputation for excellent course delivery and we didn’t hesitate to sign up to the course when we discovered that this programme was available at a suitable level.”

The course has helped Holme House’s employees to identify and develop both their knowledge and skills surrounding the care of patients and their friends and families at a sensitive time of life, whilst gaining a nationally recognised qualification.

Linda said: “The course has been extremely beneficial for all of our staff, it has given them more confidence to deal with extremely difficult situations. I would highly recommend all staff in the industry to take the course.”

The company also states that the course will help the nursing home to reach the Gold Standard Award which they hope to gain some time in the near future.
