The award is being considered for ‘Companion’, a smartphone application developed by Black Pepper Software Ltd.
Companion is a brand-new innovative smart phone application which has been designed for use at exhibitions. The app provides visitors with a range of useful information and has a navigational functionality via a personal interface with an event or conference. At the same time as assisting event goers with its useful interface and mapping functionality, it also delivers vital information to show organisers/exhibitors via a pc ‘dashboard’. This dashboard displays live intelligence and enables communications with visitors before, during and after an event.
The application has been implemented at high profile shows such as the BBC Good Food & Gardeners World Live, situated at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC), Birmingham.
The awards are set to take place on Thursday 10th November 2011 at Battersea Park Events Arena, London. Black Pepper is competing against some of the industries giants, such as Tesco.com and RBS, yet remain confident in the app’s ability to contend.
Adam Wright, Head of Solutions for Black Pepper Software Ltd said: “We are thrilled to be considered for the Mobile IT Innovation of the Year award. It is great to be recognised for the successful development of Companion, which is set for further progression in 2012.”
David Clarke, Chief Executive Officer, BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, says:
“Congratulations to the finalists; the competition to reach this stage of our prestigious Awards is tough. Our Awards are central to our mission to recognise the innovation and professionalism of those working in IT and I’m delighted that every year we have such a variety of high quality entries. They are an excellent reflection of the impact IT has on so many aspects of our information society and the potential IT has to transform business, society and our lives.”
The next stage for Black Pepper Ltd is to produce applications for upcoming exhibitions, including; the NCC Motorhome & Caravan show, Top Gear Live, BBC Good Food Show Winter and the Clothes Show Live; enhancing the visitor experience at each show.
