Dorset County Hospital

Generous donations for bereavement suit

Press Release   •   Oct 14, 2012 09:43 BST

Some generous donations have led to the creation of a new room on Dorset County
Hospital’s maternity unit for parents grieving the loss of a baby. Furniture store London Lounge has donated a sofa bed and the Friends of Dorset  County Hospital have donated the soft furnishings to make the bereavement suite as  comfortable as possible. Midwife Susan Palmer said: “Sadly not all parents leave the maternity unit with a live  baby and so we wanted to provide a quiet and homely environment where the  parents could spend some time together. “We are extremely grateful to London Lounge and the Friends for their generous  donations. The sofa bed and soft furnishings make all the difference.” DCH midwives run a support group for parents who have lost babies.
