Apple has officially unveiled iOS 6. With their next generation software announced, you must be wondering if the update will be rolling out to your older iOS device. If this is the case, we have good news for you. The update will be rolling out to the iPhone 3G and other devices that came after it. This includes the iPhone 3G S, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, original iPad, iPad 2, and new iPad. However, the older the device, the less iOS 6 features you will get. When it comes to the iPhone 4, the handset will get every feature on the list apart from 3D maps and Siri.
Apple’s new 3D maps allow users to get a bird’s eye 3D view of major cities. Unfortunately, this feature will only be available to the more current devices such as the iPad 2, new iPad, and iPhone 4S since these devices are equipped with dual-core processors (A5 or A5X chip). If you’re looking for 3D maps on your iPhone 4, the only way to get it is through jailbreaking the handset.
Siri is another omission. The updated version of the voice-activated personal assistant will only be rolling out to the iPhone 4S and the new iPad. If you’re looking to get Siri on your iPhone 4, again, you would have to jailbreak your phone.
