HoloViews is a Python library that makes analysing and visualizing scientific or engineering data much simpler, more intuitive, and more reproducible. For instance, if you have a two-dimensional dataset you might want to view it, its histogram, and the value along a horizontal cross section. It only takes one line of HoloViews code to add a line annotation, generate the histogram, and display the result alongside the cross section. The Holoviews project and it's creators are deserving winners of this hotly contested category for producing an extremely high quality product. Jean-Luc and Philipp were delighted to receive the Award and the cash prize.
The UK Open Source Awards, organised by SalesAgility, leaders of the SuiteCRM open source project, celebrates the best open source software, from major companies to smaller student projects. This year saw a record number of entries coming from a wider variety of people and organisations than ever before. Especially well done to all the award winners this year, as there was a 40% growth in entries. As open source becomes the norm and becomes pervasive, the number and quality of entries increases and it becomes harder to get recognition for the hard work that goes into being excellent.
Greg Soper, CEO of SalesAgility and one of the judging panel said “It was obvious to all the judges that Jena-Luc and Philipp had done the hard yards. They have made thousands of commits over a period of time and engaged with their community in exemplary fashion. This award was well merited and the judges congratulate them on an excellent project”.
