Joysticks breaks the 1 million barrier! Another massive year as Golden Joystick Awards amasses one million votes from gamers

An incredible one million votes have been already cast in the 28th Annual Golden Joystick Awards, organisers Future announced today.

With just over two weeks left for the public to choose this year's winners, the excitement is really hotting up for the ‘people's gaming awards’.

The acclaimed Golden Joystick Awards are the longest running gaming awards in the world and have been the burgeoning entertainment genre’s ultimate accolade since 1982. Officially named as the ‘World’s Most Popular Video Game Awards’ by Guinness World Records, the ‘Joysticks’ are now celebrating a record breaking 28th year.

With diverse categories like Action, RPG and Puzzle Game of The Year, there is truly something for everyone as the awards showcase the diversity in today’s video games industry. In total, over 100 titles competing across 16 categories for the biggest prize in gaming, the Ultimate Game of the Year.

Voting is still wide open in many of the categories, with the top spots changing regularly throughout the day as votes are cast. Voting closes on 25th October - if there’s a game you feel deserves a Golden Joystick – get over to and vote now!

The winners will be announced at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel on 29th October 2010 during the ceremony hosted by legendary US comedian Rich Hall.
