RBLI

Kent charity showcases its work in the run up to Armed Forces Day

Press Release  •  Jul 03, 2012 16:59 BST

Launched in 1919 to provide treatment, housing, training and support to the Armed Forces community, particularly those injured in the line of duty, RBLI released a short film each day (via their website http://www.rbli.co.uk/rbli/companynews/155/ & their YouTube Channel http://www.youtube.com/user/RBLIndustries) to highlight the varied and important work it does for these brave individuals.

Monday 25 – Saturday 30 June 2012

On Monday 25 June, RBLI released the first of its films. This film focuses on its housing and welfare services, highlighting the different accommodation it provides to approximately 600 residents of which many are former Service personnel, their families and dependents, from independent living quarters to full residential care.  http://youtu.be/cJaqSCPjq9A

Tuesday’s film tells the story of how RBLI provides training and work for ex-Service personnel through its Social Enterprise factories.  Its manufacturing and fulfilment arm not only helps provide the finances to support the charity’s work, it also provides independence and confidence to the people who work in them. http://youtu.be/U1qsOx1uUOI

Wednesday saw the launch of a film about the RBLI LifeWorks course which provides the Armed Forces Community with the skills and confidence to help them secure work outside the military. This is especially important as many individuals may have joined the Forces from leaving education, while others may be injured and need extra support in deciding which career path to take. http://youtu.be/cgphiTCpq5E

Thursday’s film features interviews with staff and Veterans and focus on the residential nursing and healthcare provided by RBLI’s care team. http://youtu.be/FGQd2MShfuk

Friday
The week culminated in the signing of the Armed Forces Covenant by representatives from Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council and RBLI.  Established in 2011 by Government, the state and the Military, the Armed Forces Covenant recognises the vital contribution and sacrifice made by Forces personnel and their families, and exists to redress any disadvantages they may face in comparison to other citizens in the community. http://youtu.be/iYhPr3t_AIk

Saturday – Armed Forces Day
Finally on Armed Forces Day itself, a final video showing messages of support to the Armed Forces from people featured during the week. http://youtu.be/TxMLqg-Hkqc
