London, 16.1.2017 – TOC Events Worldwide, the Province of KwaZuluNatal (KZN) and South African national port and rail network operator Transnet have announced that they will partner to run TOC Africa, an international trade, transport and logistics event, in Durban, December 2017.
Celebrating 40 years in 2016, TOC Events organizes a global portfolio of port-centric conferences and exhibitions that assembles all the supply chain partners. This will be the first time that the event has taken place in Africa.
Taking place from 5-6 December 2017 at the Durban ICC, TOC Africa will feature an exhibition showcasing African ports, terminals, transport and logistics services, along with international equipment and technology for seaports, terminals, logistics centres and multimodal hubs. Visitors will be able to see the latest in automation and digital technologies powering the next generation of port and logistics platforms, including equipment demonstrations, simulators and product launches.
A multi-track conference and free-to-attend seminar programme will include the high level Container Supply Chain conference, bringing together senior executives from industry, government and the finance world to assess the evolution of Africa’s global and regional trade and discuss the evolution of infrastructure, services and technology to enable next generation supply chain operations.
The event will also include a 2-day seminar devoted to bulk technology and logistics, reflecting the importance of mining, mineral and commodity trades, and a second 2-day seminar focusing on latest approaches to container port and terminal operations, equipment and technology, including automation.
The exhibition, conferences and seminar will be complemented by an extensive networking programme including 5-star lunches and a spectacular gala dinner, as well as smaller more focused VIP events. Special guests will include senior members of the South Africa government, as well as a member of the Zulu Royal Family.
KZN is home to the ports of Durban and Richards Bay, respectively the country’s largest container and bulk seaports, plus the Dube Tradeport air logistics platform. Speaking at the opening of TOC Middle East 2016 in Dubai on 6-7 December, Ndabo Khoza, CEO at KZN Tourism, told delegates that the Provincial Government is looking forward to welcoming the international transport and transport community next year to explore the numerous business opportunities in South Africa. “We want to bring more context to what our economy is about, and learn how we can become more significant players, even at the bottom of the continent. We think there are a lot of big opportunities, and many of you are not doing business in Africa,” said Mr. Khoza.
“With the partnership of KZN and Transnet, in addition to the support of many local, regional and international private companies, now is definitely the right time to launch TOC Africa; it’s been 10 years in the making” said Paul Holloway, Event Director at TOC Events Worldwide.
“Africa’s trade growth opportunities are immense and will require – and stimulate - significant investment in infrastructure, services and technology across the continent. TOC Africa will provide a knowledge, networking and business forum for domestic and foreign enterprises along the supply chain. Cargo owners, ocean and land carriers, ports and terminals, 3PLs, finance, equipment, technology and more will come together with institutional stakeholders and define the future roadmap for African transport, trade & logistics.
