Liberal Democratic Party: Alcohol must not be sold at pocket-money prices says Gidley

“Gordon Brown must listen to respected medical opinion and tackle the issue of pocket-money priced alcohol and reduce binge drinking," said the Liberal Democrat Health Spokesperson.

Commenting on today’s Health Select Committee report on alcohol, Sandra Gidley said:

“Stopping alcohol being sold at pocket-money prices is vital to tackle the problems of Booze Britain.

“Alcohol-related illnesses are reaching epidemic proportions.  Action on price is an important tool in tackling this crisis.

“Gordon Brown must listen to respected medical opinion and tackle the issue of pocket-money priced alcohol and reduce binge drinking.

“Our drinking culture needs to be drastically changed to end the huge rise in serious alcohol-related problems.”
