"Councils are once again woefully underprepared as a result of bad advice from the Government," said the Liberal Democrat Shadow Transport Secretary.
Commenting on reports that council grit supplies are running low, Norman Baker said:
“Nothing seems to have been learnt from last year’s cold snap. Councils are once again woefully underprepared as a result of bad advice from the Government on how much grit they should store.
“With the limited supplies they do have, councils are gritting roads and not pavements, leaving elderly and vulnerable people stranded and at risk.”
