Liberal Democratic Party: Children’s health should focus minds in swine flu talks – Lamb

Press Release   •   Dec 09, 2009 10:41 GMT

“There is clearly a responsibility on both sides to ensure that this vaccination programme goes ahead without delay," said the Liberal Democrat Shadow Health Secretary.

Commenting on the announcement that talks between the Government and GPs on providing swine flu vaccinations to children under five have collapsed, Norman Lamb said:

“It beggars belief that the Government has not been able to reach an agreement with GPs on an issue of such importance.

“There is clearly a responsibility on both sides to ensure that this vaccination programme goes ahead without delay.

“The safety of children should have been the priority in these discussions but that does not appear to have been the case.

“Ministers must immediately reassure parents that provisions will be put in place to ensure that every child is vaccinated as soon as possible.”
