"Careful words to save face are no substitute for tough action to save the planet," said the Liberal Democrat Shadow Energy and Climate Change Secretary.
Commenting on the recent results of the Copenhagen Conference, Simon Hughes said:
"Rarely have so many leaders come together to try and resolve such an important issues and left with so little to show for it.
"Careful words to save face are no substitute for tough action to save the planet.
"If world leaders cannot come together now to agree an effective deal to cut carbon emissions and deliver climate justice, then negotiations must restart early 2010 and not be put on hold for months into the next year.
"The crises in our climate will not wait while politicians get their act together"
