“It now emerges that the Highways Agency is going begging to councils for grit," said the Liberal Democrat Shadow Transport Secretary.
Commenting on the Highways Agency sourcing grit from councils, Norman Baker said:
“The Government has given the impression the Highways Agency has been much better prepared for the bad weather than local authorities.
“It now emerges that the Highways Agency is going begging to councils for grit.
“The Government’s failure to prepare properly is putting the elderly and vulnerable at risk, causing mayhem on the roads and costing the economy and the NHS dearly.”
