Liberal Democratic Party: Government has let down children under five says Lamb

Press Release   •   Feb 03, 2010 10:13 GMT

"It is a sad indictment of this Government’s failures that despite their promises, the under-fives rarely seem to be a priority," says the Liberal Democrat Shadow Health Secretary.

Commenting on today’s report by the Audit Commission on Government spending on services for children under five, Norman Lamb said

“This report paints a picture of patchy improvements and missed opportunities despite significant investment.

“Effective action now will not only save the NHS money in the future, it will change people’s lives. Efforts to build a fairer society are doomed if health inequalities continue to grow.

“The evidence is clear that the first five years are vital to a child’s future health and wellbeing. It is a sad indictment of this Government’s failures that despite their promises, the under-fives rarely seem to be a priority.”
