“Labour has had 13 years to fix the schools system and it has failed," said the Liberal Democrat Shadow Schools Secretary.
Commenting on Gordon Brown’s plans to give more help to struggling primary school pupils, David Laws said:
“The New Year is supposed to be a time for new resolutions, but this is yet another re-spun and re-heated announcement first made over six months ago.
“Labour has had 13 years to fix the schools system and it has failed. If they haven’t put the right policies in place by now, they won’t succeed just a few months before Election Day.
“We need a fresh start in education with real change. That means freedom from endless Government meddling and a Pupil Premium to help cut class sizes and give every single child the best possible chance.”
