“We need a regional peace process," said the Liberal Democrats Shadow Foreign Secretary.
Commenting on reports that British troops could pull out of Afghanistan by next Christmas, Edward Davey said:
“We all hope that Obama’s new strategy will enable early troop withdrawal but it will have to contain the radical shift in political strategy we have called for.
“We need a regional peace process with a national and local political surge to reconcile and reintegrate much of the Afghan insurgency.
“That might just enabled some troops to be released”
