Press Release   •   Jan 15, 2010 10:01 GMT

“This whole legal circus could be ended tomorrow," said the Liberal Democrat Shadow Scotland Secretary.

Commenting on the news that Gary McKinnon’s lawyers have been granted permission for a judicial review of Alan Johnson’s decision to extradite him to the US, Alistair Carmichael said:

“For as long as legal proceedings are still live in this country, there is still hope for justice for Gary McKinnon.

“This whole legal circus could be ended tomorrow if the Government had  the guts and the compassion to stand up to the US administration and tell them that they will not send Gary to the States.”
