LIFEWORKS ‘GOES CIVILIAN’
Royal British Legion Industries have recently launched a ‘civilian and families’ version of their acclaimed LifeWorks Outplacement course.
LifeWorks was launched in 2011 and since then over 250 grant-funded delegates have attended the intensive 5 day residential course at RBLI’s centre in Aylesford, Kent.
LifeWorks was developed as a specialist Outplacement programme aimed at ex-Armed Forces personnel in pursuit of their first or subsequent civilian job. Attended by all ranks from all three services, from Able Seamen to Brigadiers, LifeWorks has earned universal praise for its success.
Even if delegates are on their second or later civilian job, but are now needing help in a career change, LifeWorks can be grant funded so is free for Veteran delegates who attend. Even delegates who only served for a minimal time can qualify.
In the light of the repatriation of Germany based personnel, LifeWorks has now been launched in a ‘civilian’ form to help spouses and partners resettle successfully into life in the UK. This civilian version is also available for any UK employer to purchase if they are making staff redundant in a reorganisation.
“LifeWorks is part of the vital rehabilitation work we do with over 500 wounded ex-Service personnel and disabled people every year” explains Geoffrey Dodds, leader of the LifeWorks programme at RBLI. “Service personnel are generally proven to have great team working skills and a ‘can do’ approach to organisations’ challenges. Delegates often under-value the significance of their overall military experience in terms of what they bring to the civilian world. LifeWorks is transformational in building self confidence and self worth, whilst at the same time providing practical guidance on how to best present one’s CV and honing face to face interview skills. Now also offering it to a wider employer audience on commercial terms, for non-military people, helps raise funds for the work we do with veterans.”
RBLI is keen to engage with more employers seeking to purchase Outplacement services, since the demand for their rehabilitation services and need for funding is undiminished. To find out how RBLI can help your organisation email firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone 0843 308 1383
