Ministry of Justice - Judicial Appointments: Appointment of Circuit Judges - Staite and Walden-Smith

HM The Queen has appointed Sara Elizabeth Staite to be a Circuit Judge on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Jack Straw MP.  The Right Honourable The Lord Judge, Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales has assigned her to the South Eastern Circuit, based in the Essex County Courts with effect from Wednesday 17 March 2010.

HM The Queen has appointed Karen Jane Walden-Smith to be a Circuit Judge on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Jack Straw MP.  The Right Honourable The Lord Judge, Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales has assigned her to the South Eastern Circuit, based at Chelmsford Crown Court with effect from Wednesday 17 March 2010.

Notes for the Editor

Sara Elizabeth Staite (52) was called to the Bar (I) in 1979. She was appointed as an Assistant Recorder in 1996 and as a Recorder in 2000.

Karen Jane Walden-Smith (43) was called to the Bar (L) in 1990. She was appointed as a Recorder in 2004.
