Mitie, the FTSE 250 strategic outsourcing company, has appointed Andrew Smith as sales director for its total document management business.

The appointment sees the business focus on developing into new sectors whilst maintaining an excellent record for client retention.

Andrew Smith joins Mitie after 25 years managing sales teams in document management. His knowledge and experience in the industry puts him in a great position to focus strategically on transforming the sales operation and driving business growth by bringing new digital and data products to the market.

Mitie’s total document management business provides full document services including mailroom management, creative services, digital print, scanning, procurement, secure shredding, closed loop recycling and document and data storage.

Andrew Smith said:

“My focus will be on building the right team to ensure we stay number one choice for on- and off-site document outsourcing.

Mitie’s total document management business is uniquely positioned in the marketplace due to their on-site, off-site and bespoke hybrid products, specialist account management and strong offering within integrated facilities management.

“Mitie’s focus on innovation shows the progression from a document business that was focused heavily on digital print and tracked mailrooms, to a digital and data specialist.”

James Gilding, managing director for Mitie’s total document management business, added:

“Andrew has one of the most successful sales backgrounds in the document services industry. He has a reputation for driving innovative products through the market as well as building successful relationships with large organisations.

“Andrew’s background and experience are ideal to grow our customers’ interests and deliver against the company’s growth aspirations.”
