Mitie has today announced it is partnering with Microsoft to deliver the company’s new vision for the Connected Workspace.

Powered by Microsoft’s expertise in disruptive technologies such as big data analytics, Internet of Things (IoT) and machine learning, Mitie will transform the way it delivers real estate and facilities services to its customers. The partnership will enable Mitie’s customers to operate their property estate in a more efficient and productive way. Data analytics combined with new technologies will provide new opportunities to reduce cost whilst improving customers’ employee experience, service performance and productivity.

Commenting on the new partnership, Phil Bentley CEO of Mitie said, “We’re working with Microsoft as we believe it leads the industry in the provision of the technologies we need to capture and analyse the data in the facilities we manage and the related insight, allowing us to optimise and automate our services. Microsoft has the most flexible, scalable and secure platform on the market, is a recognised leader for vision and execution in Artificial Intelligence and Analytics Platforms and has a well-established suite of IoT solutions and interfaces.”

Cindy Rose, CEO of Microsoft UK said, “Mitie is a valued customer that is delivering real value for customers in the Property and FM sector. Working with Mitie, we’ll be able to help their customers increase productivity, optimise operations and reduce overall costs, as well as most importantly providing insight that helps Mitie’s clients manage their businesses.”

Data is now critical to the success of any facilities management (FM) and property service. Mitie is deploying leading-edge sensor and beacon technology across a number of client sites to track asset information and people activity within buildings. This data is combined with existing data streams from property, energy, projects and FM activity through Microsoft’s Azure platform, which provides the foundation for collecting and analysing the massive amounts of data now being generated.

The company is using data analytics to uncover previously unseen patterns and synergies across existing data siloes, providing property directors with a better understanding of how their buildings are performing. This clarity allows more accurate benchmarking of buildings and development of more informed property strategies, as well as driving workplace efficiency and productivity, cost savings and service enhancements for FM.

Phil Bentley concluded, “We will leverage our position as the UK’s leading provider of Facilities Management. We have access to thousands of commercial, retail and manufacturing properties and Exabytes of data around how our clients’ businesses are performing. Microsoft’s technology and analytics, combined with our Real Estate and Facilities Management expertise, will allow us to lead our industry from reactive, service delivery based on inputs and frequencies, to a predictive demand-led approach that targets resource where it’s needed efficiently and cost-effectively.”
