The Sunday Times Tech Track 100 award for Best Management Team was won by musicMagpie.co.uk at the esteemed awards dinner held in London last night (15 November). Steve Oliver and Walter Gleeson, founders of musicMagpie, the leading cash for CDs, DVDs and Games website, were at the event to collect the award on behalf of the team, which includes Eren Ozagir (CMO), Jon Eeles (CFO) and top business leader Allan Leighton (Non-Exec Chairman).

The Tech Track 100 Awards celebrates the people behind Britain’s 100 fastest-growing privately-owned technology companies. The event followed the publication of the the prestigious Sunday Times Microsoft Tech Track 100 on 18 September in which musicMagpie was listed as the third fastest growing private technology company in the UK.

Founded in 2007, musicMagpie is Europe’s largest purchaser and multi-channel retailer of replay CDs, DVDs and Games, serving over nine million customers worldwide. The company has shaped the pre-played market globally by legitimising the products and the pre-played category itself. In April this year, Allan Leighton, former boss of ASDA and Royal Mail, and current non-executive director at BSkyB, joined the board as chairman. The company has continued its aggressive growth by ensuring that technological innovations are at the very core of the business and is set to deliver sales of £100m per annum in 2012/13.

With websites operating in both the UK and Germany and with further expansion planned for the future, musicMagpie offers consumers a free and easy way to de-clutter and make money from their unwanted entertainment products.

Steve Oliver, CEO and Co-Founder of musicMagpie says: “Being recognized as the third fastest growing technology company in the UK by Tech Track this year demonstrated the enormous growth both domestically and internationally that we have achieved. To grow at such a rate takes a skilled and driven team to manage and deliver it and winning the best management team award is further testament to how strong our team really is.”

Allan Leighton, Non-Executive Chairman of musicMagpie adds: “We have a model-busting business, the right team, a huge market to grow into and I expect the next twelve months will deliver even more impressive results.”

Recently ranked as the 3rd fastest growing technology company is the UK, musicMagpie is the most popular online recycling website in Europe that pays cash for old and unwanted CDs, DVDs and Games. The site is totally free to use and allows consumers to use their webcam or smart phone and sell their items – or they can just enter the barcodes into the site and get an instant price for them.
