New app helps visitors at The Motorhome & Caravan Show

The free app is the first location based business network, designed to enhance the visitors’ experience both pre and at the show. It provides them with a personal sat nav for the shows plus exhibitor information, competition details, amenity searches, travel updates and embedded Facebook and Twitter. It also helps organisers understand better how people use their shows.

The NEC has launched the Motorhome and Caravan Show app with the show’s organisers, the National Caravan Council (The NCC). The app is powered by Companion (www.companionhq.com) created by Leamington Spa based technology company Black Pepper Software and has been developed on the same robust enterprise IT frameworks that were used to create the Thomas Cook Foreign Exchange mobile platform.  The company has recently been announced as a UK IT Industry Award finalist for their work on the app.

Following the app’s launch at BBC Gardeners’ World Live and BBC Good Food Show Summer earlier this year, it is now being rolled out across different shows at the NEC.

Companion is ready to launch at a number of exhibitions in November and December including, The Clothes Show Live, and The Footman James Classic Motor Show where the app will be made available on ALL smartphones. It will then give everybody with a smartphone the opportunity to download and utilise the app, making it an even more effective tool in the organisation and planning of exhibitions.

Janine Smith, of the NEC, said; “The launch of this app is an important one for us as a visitor venue; we have millions of people attending shows each year and we want to give them the best experience possible; from the moment they leave their home to the moment they leave the site. We have worked with Black Pepper Software to ensure that we’re offering an app that connects organisers and exhibitors with their consumers.

“We have already seen hundreds of downloads of the Motorhome and Caravan Show app, which means that it’s clearly something that visitors want and need as part of their visit.”

Rebecca Kinder is Marketing Manager for NCC Events, the Motorhome & Caravan Show organisers, she said; “We were very happy to trial the app system and have had some great feedback from both visitors and exhibitors.  It’s easy to use, comprehensive and because of the size of the show the opportunity to view your location on a hall plan is extremely useful.”
