Ninety Hedge Fund Managers Attend Hybrid Cloud Seminar at The Connaught, London

Press release   •   Mar 22, 2012 17:30 GMT

Following the success of the first Commensus breakfast seminar at The Connaght Hotel in January, Commensus invited Hedge Fund Managers from across the City of London to attend a second session on 21st March. The event was hugely successful with over ninety funds and alternative investment firms in attendance. Commensus, VMware and Bloomberg spoke on the subject of ‘The Future of Cloud Computing’ and gave a high level overview of how Fund Managers could leverage the benefits of the Cloud to gain business agility and increased performance.

Justin Olivier at VMware spoke on the benefits of developing a Hybrid Cloud which gives funds the ability to utilise their on-premise infrastructure combined with public cloud providers like Commensus, to drive down costs whilst enhancing security. By taking control of the firms IT assets, the Hybrid Cloud can help companies leverage several benefits including guaranteed uptime, reduced costs as well as increased agility and performance. Olivier comments, “It was great to see so many fund managers in attendance. It seems to me that the financial sector has a great understanding about cloud computing, but the Hybrid Cloud using service providers like Commensus, will really help funds to get the best out of their IT systems.”

Bloomberg’s Simon Gard spoke about the benefits of their Tradebook brokerage application and Chris Kendregan of Commensus gave a high level overview about how to leverage the power of the Cloud to produce a more secure and resilient infrastructure for trading applications such as Bloomberg.

“Our partnership with firms like Bloomberg demonstrates our ongoing commitment to the financial sector, ensuring that their trading applications function at optimal levels on our secure cloud platform.” Kendregan commented, “…the Hybrid Cloud is the enabler for enhanced technology. We’re not one of those service providers who advise firms to push everything into the Cloud, instead we advise funds to utilise their existing IT assets to virtualise and then use the Cloud for what you need it for.”

John Harrison, Director of Winchester Capital, one of the funds in attendance praised Commensus saying, “I found the whole event fascinating” whilst George Toursoulopoulos, Director at Synetec observed, “…the cloud offered by Commensus clearly provides a range of excellent solutions that I know many funds will want to take advantage of.”

Due to the success of this event, Commensus will be opening up another date on 15th May 2012. Find out more at
