Smartphone fans are eagerly awaiting the release of the latest offering from Nokia, the N8, a handset that looks destined for great things thanks to its packed list of features and stylish looks.
The multi media facilities on the Nokia N8 are perhaps the best currently available on any handset. Lets start by taking a look at the camera. Steering away from the 5 million pixel industry standard, Nokia have wisely chosen to fit this unit with a snapper capable of capturing 12 million pixels.
Not only does such a standard produce outstanding results, but coupled with the professional standard Carl Zeiss optics, the results are even more pleasing. The autofocus is backed up by face recognition software, meaning the camera will pick up on, and focus on faces within any frame.
A Xenon flash aides photography where lighting is less than perfect. With regards to video footage, the specs are perhaps even more impressive thanks to the High Definition recording quality. Footage is filmed in the industry standard 720 Progressively scanned lines. A video light and secondary camera for video calling are all part of what is a pretty complete package.
The Nokia N8 comes with 16 GB of internal memory, more than adequate storage for the average user, however the addition of a microSD card slot means a further 32GB of memory can be easily added should the user require it.
The obvious attraction of such memory is for the user to store plenty of media, and more often than not this is mainly audio files. A wide range of audio formats are supported. The customary MP3 is included in this list as are WMA, eAAC and e AAC+.
A handy "CoverFlow" system is fitted in order to make browsing of your album artwork easy and an FM RDS tuner is also fitted should you want to keep up to date with local or national radio stations. A 3.5mm jack socket ensures that a wide range of headphones can be used with the phone. A very attractive feature is the addition of an HDMI socket, meaning easy connection to any HD ready television.
A wide ranges of connectivity options are available on the Nokia N8, ensuring the user can constantly be kept up to date, whether it be via e mail, social networking sites or just to browse the net.
GPRS and EDGe are both supported, as is WiFi, and the handset automatically detects when you are in range of your own router and automatically connects to it.
The wide range of functions and superb multi media facilities make the Nokia N8 the handset to watch out for this forthcoming summer. The attractive looking handset appeals on nearly all counts, whether it be for an experienced smartphone fan or somebody looking for a good quality upgrade.
