Nutrition and premenstrual syndrome

Press release   •   Mar 17, 2015 14:26 GMT

Under the name of "premenstrual syndrome" are commonly referred to different symptoms that occur in the period preceding the cycle and which are well known to many women:

muscle pain;

breast tenderness;

Their intensity may, in some cases, be so high as to limit the regular fulfilment of daily tasks.

Three rules to follow at the table to prevent PMS

Some dietary precautions to take in particular in the pre-cycle period, may be useful for limiting the “inconvenience” that monthly afflicts almost every woman of childbearing age.

It is advisable to concentrate intake of carbohydrates (bread, rice, pasta) in the first half of the day and of proteins (meat, eggs, fish or legumes) in the evening. This distribution of food indeed helps stimulate the production of serotonin, a neurotransmitter responsible for mood states and for "holding off" anxiety and irritability.

In the days preceding menstrual cycle, one should follow a hyposodic diet, i.e. low in salt (avoid or reduce consumption of foods such as sausages, hard cheese, smoked fish and baked goods like pizzas, cookies etc.). This will make it possible to prevent, or limit, symptoms such as swelling in the legs or bloating.

To combat fatigue and irritability, it may also be helpful to enrich your daily diet with abundant amounts of fruits, vegetables and legumes (foods rich in vitamins and minerals, such as calcium and magnesium). Magnesium may be useful for counteracting fatigue and maintaining normal psychological functions, while calcium can support energy metabolism. Some foods, like apricots, corn, soy, almonds, walnuts or fresh fish are excellent sources of these minerals.

If nutrition alone is not sufficient, additional support can come from supplementation with specific products, made from herbs that are able to combat pre-menstrual symptoms.

This will allow easing your premenstrual discomfort and reducing its impact on your daily activities.

The Italian company has been trading since 1977, starting up as a simple herbalist's shop. Since then, it has earned the trust of tens-of-thousands of regular clients by working hard to deliver a top-notch products.

All food supplements are 100% natural (they do not contain parabens, mineral oils [paraffin oils], synthetic perfumes, and, where possible, preservatives) are produced and manufactured directly by the company in Italy to strict standards and have been notified to the Italian Ministry of Health.

The manufacturing techniques deployed by Dr Giorgini are ancient and groundbreaking at the same time, as they aim at preserving both the natural active ingredients, the core of our health and well-being, and the energy of life, a concept around which the whole company philosophy revolves. This to create a nutritional energy balance to stay healthy and fit, both physically and psychologically.
Starting from a selection of raw materials that, besides the usually required high quality standards, must not be exposed to radiations, and, continuing with the production chain, all those techniques that may reduce or destroy the energy of life still present in plants (e.g.: heat and pressure above the environmental range values, ultrasounds, microwaves, strong acids and bases ...) are accurately avoided. Thanks to this manufacturing technique, the energy of sunlight "fixed" into a plant by photosynthesis is saved and present in all Dr Giorgini products.

Dr Giorgini production unit, 500 m above sea level and out in the open, allows collecting water from rain and dew, to be then used in manufacturing processes, instead of the common deionised water, coming from waterworks and springs.
Besides food supplements, Dr Giorgini line also includes body, hair care, face and sun cosmetics, face and body cleansers, insect repellent and after-bite products, which are formulated using only top-quality ingredients and scented with only natural essential oils and contain no artificial fragrances.
