Phones 4u Selects Infogain to Partner in Ambitious Store Expansion of its Oracle Investment

Press Release   •   Oct 18, 2010 12:11 BST

GITEX - Dubai, 18 October 2010 – Infogain, a global retail and mobile solutions provider, today announces that leading high street mobile phone retailer for the youth market, Phones 4u, has chosen it to implement Oracle Retail applications to support its partnership with a major UK electronics retailer to roll-out at least 50 new ‘stores-in-stores’ before the end of the year, with further roll-out planned for 2011.

“This is a pivotal phase in Phones 4u’s expansion plans, which means a solid technology platform and retail partner are absolute imperatives,” said Steve Taylor, IT Director at Phones 4u.

With over 480 stores Nationwide, Phones 4u is working with Infogain to underpin an ambitious growth strategy based on a solid technology platform provided by  Oracle applications and technology.  Renowned for enabling retailers to meet shifting consumer demands and rapid, sustainable growth, Oracle’s Retail solution offers a solid foundation for delivering a new store experience.

A Gold level member of the Oracle PartnerNetwork, Infogain has repeatedly been successful in delivering multiple implementation assignments for leading retailers in the US, Middle East and China making it a clear choice in a competitive selection process.

“We were looking for a partner that could be flexible to cope with multiple work streams, with a proven record in implementing Oracle Retail Point-of-Service and Oracle Retail Store Inventory Management  applications, which are core to the success of the new concession stores, but only part of the picture,” said Taylor.  “We still need to manage our legacy environment and keep all of our existing stores running smoothly whilst we migrate to the Oracle Retail solution.  We feel comfortable in having selected one of the best experts for the job.”

“Infogain has worked closely with Oracle to create  a comprehensive industry solution for telecommunication retailers, integrating the most effective combination of Oracle Retail stores applications and the Oracle E-Business Suite applications,” said Mark Collin, Vice President for Infogain in Europe and Africa.  “This relationship represents a significant strategic milestone in Infogain playing a key role in customer growth plans.  We are excited to be on board and are already focused on the job in hand – getting Phones 4u live on the new Oracle Retail platform.”

To a backdrop of consistent retail success, Infogain recently unveiled its Mobile Point of Sale solution (Mobile POS), developed exclusively for Oracle Retail.  Leveraging the flexibility of Oracle Retail Point-of-Service and the power of the iPod touch platform, the solution enables sales assistants to handle customer purchases from any location in the store.  Mobile POS supports a variety of sales floor functionality, including product / inventory look-up, customer data acquisition and line busting.  It also facilitates remote printing and can be used with Apple-based terminals.

Senior representatives from Infogain, Oracle and Phones 4u will be on-site at GITEX, the International Technology Exhibition, from 17-20 October 2010, in Dubai.  If you are interested in booking an interview to speak to them, or would like to arrange an informal conversation prior to or following GITEX, please contact Sophia Henri, as above.
