Playforce provides the gift of play to local pupils

Press Release   •   Oct 20, 2010 08:42 BST

Pupils of North Bradley CE Primary School, Trowbridge, have been specially selected by school grounds specialist, Playforce, to receive free playground equipment from the provider’s brand new Woodland Village range.

Wanting to give something back to the local community, Playforce recognised North Bradley Primary as a trusted and respected partner residing in the local community. Impressed with the school’s positive and pro-active approach to delivering creative learning opportunities for the children, yet recognising the limitations of restricted budgets, Playforce felt this Wiltshire-based school was the ideal choice to help test the brand new range.

The Woodland Village range comprises a range of timber structures and interconnecting boardwalk pathways designed specifically to create imaginative playscapes. It is constructed from playgrade timber and the structures are designed to create a natural woodland feel. There are various types of dens which provide an environment where children can play in a make-believe world, stimulating social interaction and creativity.

Sam Flatman, field sales manager, Playforce comments: “With our expertise in school grounds, we regularly see the value play brings, and how it can encourage learning outside of the classroom. Not only does it enhance children’s enjoyment of break times, but the use of a well-considered and planned play area can be an extension of the learning environment, providing infinite scope for cross-curricular links.  We are really delighted to be able to collaborate with such an inspirational and innovative school and hope that, in offering this equipment, it will help them to continue their delivery of exceptional education-linked play.”

Head teacher, Janette O’Brien says: ““The new Play Lodge and Boardwalk are hugely popular with the whole school.  The key stage 1 pupils have been exploring how to use the pulleys and have realised that they need to communicate with each other in order to collect the sand and pull it into the lodge.  It has been interesting to see how key stage 2 play in the lodge, it’s easy to think that they are too old for sandpits but I have been delighted to see them playing wonderfully creative games.  These structures are a great addition to the play experience for all of our pupils.”
