Preston Hotel Barton Grange hosted an evening of glitz and glamour last Friday, as over 120 guests gathered to celebrate 50 years of the Barton Suite.
More than a million guests have attended events at the ballroom since it opened in 1960 and to mark the occasion, staff recreated the venue’s opening night with a ceremonial ribbon cutting, the High Society Jazz Band and stilt walkers.
Long-standing customers, The Lancashire and Cheshire Association of Corn and Agricultural Merchants (LACCAM), have held their annual dinner at the Barton Suite nearly every year since 1966 and were present on the night to join in the celebrations.
Tony McGuinnes, Secretary of LACCAM, said: “I arranged the association’s first Ladies Evening at Barton Grange in 1966 and Mrs Ada Topping invited our President and myself to tea and cakes in her little snug to the rear of the Hotel to arrange details for the evening. She supervised everything herself and the evening was a great success. Needless to say we booked for the following year and many years after.”
Ian Topping, Managing director at Barton Grange Hotel, added: “We are delighted that the association was able to join us to commemorate this wonderful occasion and we hope that we will be celebrating with them for many years to come.
“Many happy memories have been created at the Barton Suite and we have worked hard to make sure that every guest receives the high quality customer service experience we strive for.”
