Rydahls delivers customized brake system for lift truck to paper industry

Press Release   •   Jun 26, 2013 07:42 BST

Company Solving OY in Finland contacted Rydahls for help with developing a brake for their lift truck production to the paper industry.

The lift truck's length can be adjusted depending on how long the giant paper rolls are that the truck is able to carry. The heaviest paper roll weighs 47 tons, making the total weight of 53 tons when the truck weight is included.

Rydahls Engineering and Development Department created the design documentation and solution proposals with all the parameters that you need to consider. An important factor was that the friction coefficient between the truck's wheels and the rails very low. In this case it is important to avoid wheel lockup which otherwise would mean that the wheels eventually becomes angular.

Rydahls has now delivered a complete brake system that includes both the holding brake, brake disc, mechanical parking brake and a new custom brake cable with all associated adapters that are fully adapted to the brake system.

Right now the customer is performing field testing of the brake system.
