Scotlearn which is a Social Enterprise located in the West of Scotland, with the goals to improve the quality of life for those in communities in the West of Scotland, particularly in areas of deprivation.

On 21st of January we had our launch at our learning hub in yoker Glasgow, it was attended by volunteers and members of the community.

Thanks to an initial award from the Social Entrepreneurs Fund, which is delivered by Firstport who are Scotland’s development agency for start-up social entrepreneurs/enterprise.

Michael Cullen the managing director created this as working in these areas of deprivation he noticed a need for this type of service to help people. Michael who is also standing for councillor at the upcoming council elections for the Garscadden/Scotstounhill ward said "this is my way of giving back to people, who need support to help them develop these essential life skills"

Our primary goal is to improve people’s skills looking to improve literacy, financial competence, digital skills, confidence, aspiration and employability by providing tailored training and education and to advance such similar purposes, or support others engaged in or developing any other related projects or activities.

We achieve this is in a variety of ways. We have a learning HUB located on Dumbarton Road in Yoker. Our office also has a small learning and development room and plenty of space to deliver both group and individual learning. We link in with other groups and provide group learning and if clients wish to expand on their learning, our custom online platform enables them to develop in their own time and at their own pace.

We are also a member of Social Firms Scotland. They support the development of Social Firms to create employment and work experience for people who experience significant barriers in the labour market. As a Social Enterprise we are proud to be a member of Social Enterprise Scotland and be part of the important work they do.
