Service oriented architecture market experiencing significant growth

Press Release   •   Jul 10, 2012 11:51 BST

The service oriented architecture market experienced significant growth in 2011, reaching a total market value of $5.518 billion.

It had previously been estimated that after achieving a value of $3.987 billion in 2010, the service oriented architecture market would reach $4.436 billion by 2011, this however was an estimation way off its actual market value.

The service oriented architecture market in North America is set to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 11.5% through to 2014.

Service oriented architecture market growth has been achieved because more frameworks are needed to build cloud computing and more infrastructure is needed in the data centre to interconnect applications using middleware.

Aggressive marketing by leading IT solutions vendors such as IBM and Oracle, who view SOA as a vital emerging market is also acting as a key factor behind the increasing momentum of service oriented architecture ecosystems.

IBM, the manufacturer and seller of computer hardware and software which offers infrastructure, hosting and consulting services in areas ranging from mainframe computers to nanotechnology, leads the way in the service oriented architecture market, setting the defacto industry standard in service oriented architecture systems implementation.

Additional players dominating the service oriented architecture market include Infosys Ltd., Wipro Ltd., and Computer Sciences Corp.

Global service oriented architecture markets are poised to experience significant growth as new systems provide the base for cloud computing.
