The following statistics were released today by the Department of Health:
NHS inpatient and outpatient waiting: elective admission events occurring during the quarter ending 30 September 2011
The key points from the latest release are:
The number of decisions to admit has increased by 3,456 (0.2%) remaining at 1.4 million and the number of elective admissions from the list has increased by 21,858 (1.8%) to 1.3 million compared to Q2 2010/11.
Outpatient Referrals and attendances
In Quarter 2 of 2011/12:
The number of GP referrals made has decreased by 120,293 (-4.0%) to 2.9 million and the number of other referrals made has increased by 47,759 (2.8%) to 1.8 million compared to Q2 2010/11.
First attendances at consultant outpatient clinics have decreased by 95,994 (-2.2%) to 4.3 million and total attendances decreased by 75,382 (-0.6%) to 13.2 million compared to Q2 2010/11.
Did not attend (DNA) rates for first outpatients appointment was 8.6% compared to 8.7% for Q2 2010/11.
